GimmeSum is made by Lepus ("we"). This policy explains what information the GimmeSum app for iPhone and Apple Watch handles, and where it goes. Questions: support@lcmg.com.
Cheers and boosts are recorded on the contributor's device, lightly processed on-device for clarity, and stored in the receiving athlete's private Apple iCloud database (CloudKit). When you share a race, invited friends access it through Apple's iCloud sharing; anyone with a race's invite link can join it and record cheers. Recordings sync to the athlete's Apple Watch for playback. Recordings made in the app never touch servers we operate, and Lepus cannot access, listen to, or recover them. Deleting a cheer in the app deletes it from iCloud.
Friends without an iPhone can record a cheer in the browser at our invite page. That recording — along with the first name the cheerer types and the chosen cheer spot — is held on our delivery relay (hosted on Netlify) only until the athlete's iPhone next opens GimmeSum and collects it into the athlete's own iCloud, at which point it is deleted from the relay. Uncollected recordings are deleted automatically after 30 days. The invite page also shows web visitors the race's cheer-spot board (spot labels and the first names of friends who claimed them), published by the athlete's app so spots can be claimed from the browser. We don't use web recordings for anything except delivering them to the athlete, and no advertising or analytics run on the invite page.
Racing with "Share live with my squad" turned on (it's off by default, and offered only for races you've shared) sends your position, distance, time, pace, and recent splits — plus the current temperature around you and, when an Apple Watch is providing readings, your heart rate — from your iPhone or Apple Watch to our delivery relay about every 20 seconds, so anyone with your race's invite link can watch a live map, see your progress, and send cheers that play on the course within moments. The live view keeps a simplified, reduced-precision breadcrumb trail for display; your full-precision route is saved only to Apple Health on your own device. The live page remains viewable as a replay for 24 hours after you finish, then is deleted from the relay automatically. Turning the toggle off (or racing without it) sends nothing.
Squad members using the GimmeSum app can allow notifications to be told the moment a friend's race goes live. For this, the app registers the device's anonymous Apple push token with our relay — no name or identity attached — and it is used for exactly one thing: delivering that race's go-live alert. Stale registrations are deleted automatically.
With your permission, GimmeSum uses Apple HealthKit to run workout sessions and read distance, heart rate, and energy burned, and saves your workouts to Apple Health on your device. Summaries of completed sessions (distance, time, splits, average heart rate, calories, and weather conditions) are kept in the app's History and backed up to your private iCloud so they survive a reinstall. Health data is never used for advertising or marketing, and is never shared with third parties.
During outdoor sessions, the app (on Apple Watch, or on iPhone for phone-tracked sessions) uses GPS to measure distance and record your route to Apple Health. At the start and end of outdoor sessions, your coordinates are used to fetch conditions from Apple's Weather service (Apple Weather). Beyond the optional live race sharing described above, your location is not otherwise stored or transmitted.
Building a cheer group uses Apple's contact picker, which shares only the specific people you choose — a name and a phone number or email each — and saves them to your private iCloud. GimmeSum never requests access to, reads, or uploads your address book.
When you search for a race, your search text is sent to the relevant directory — RunSignup for running events, BikeReg for cycling events — to find matching listings. Their privacy policies govern those services.
The optional GimmeSum Unlimited subscription is purchased through Apple's App Store. Apple processes the payment entirely — we never receive your name, payment details, or billing information; the app only learns whether a subscription is active. Manage or cancel anytime in Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
No user accounts. No advertising. No analytics or tracking SDKs. No sale or sharing of personal information. No data brokers. GimmeSum is not directed at children.
Delete any recording, plan, group, or session inside the app — deletions propagate to iCloud. Deleting the app and removing GimmeSum's data from your iCloud (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage) removes everything. Recordings you contributed to someone else's race belong to that athlete's iCloud; ask the athlete, or contact us for help.
